Award Ceremonies for Top 3 Male & Female 6k, 18k, and 50k will be presented once the top three in each gender have completed the distance. We’ll try to get awards out as soon as possible so that traveling racers can head home in a timely fashion.
Due to the increased popularity of our races, the Wind River Transportation Authority (WRTA) will provide shuttles for all 18km, 6km and Kid’s 1km racers.
All 50km racers should park at Bruce’s Parking Lot. We have experienced volunteers who will help us maximize this parking lot for our 50km racers. We encourage carpooling if at all possible! Please enter the parking lot at the second entrance closest to the permanent toilets.
All 18km, 6km and Kid’s K racers are requested to take the shuttle which will load and unload at the Lander Swimming Pool / FCSD#1 Admin Building parking lot located at the corner of South 9th and Sweetwater Street. There will be three 30 passenger busses running continuously from 6:15am until 2pm. It is a 20 minute shuttle to Bruce’s Parking Lot, so make sure to get on a shuttle early enough for your start time!
We will have limited shelter for racers at the Start/Finish Area, so be sure to bring warm layers while you wait for your race start and get warmed up. We would recommend bringing a duffle/backpack to keep items that you don’t want to race with at the Start/Finish area.
- Prior to attending the event each runner must self-screen and stay at home if sick or exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19, or if they or someone they live with have been diagnosed with Covid-19. If you have tested positive for COVID-19, are waiting for COVID-19 test results, have COVID-19 symptoms, or if you have had close contact with a person who has tested positive for or who has symptoms of COVID-19, please do not participate. We will happily rollover your registration if you are unable to participate for any reason.
- Maintain physical distancing of at least 6ft whenever possible
- We recommend, but do not require, that masks be worn any time participants or spectators are within 6 feet of another person outside of their own household. We strongly encourage masks at the start of each event as this is when participants will be closest to others. We respect and support that everyone has different tolerances and expectations about what behavior is appropriate and we trust that each participant is making the best decision for themselves through their acknowledgment of risk associated with participation in this event.
- Masks MUST BE WORN on the shuttles regardless of vaccination status.
Please run at your own risk! Each participant acknowledges that Covid-19 is a global pandemic and that infections have been confirmed throughout the US including Wyoming. Each participant understands that the Lander Running Club and Sinks Canyon Rough & Tumble Trail Races cannot guarantee safety or immunity from infection. Each participant understands the uncertainty of the virus, how it may impact their health, and voluntarily assumes all risks associated directly or indirectly with participating in any Lander Running Club activity. Each participant knowingly and voluntarily waives and releases the Lander Running Club, its run leaders and volunteers from any and all future claims of any type, including for any harm or loss, personal injury, disease or death. Each participant agrees not to sue the Lander Running Club for any personal injury, death, medical expenses, disability, court costs, attorney fees, and/or other loss. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping everyone safe.
Pre-Race Check In
Check in will happen at Wild Iris Mountain Sports on Friday before the race. Racers will pick up their assigned bib and t-shirt.
Directions to the Start/Finish
The race is located 10 miles from downtown Lander. From Lander, turn south on 5th or 9th Street and turn right/west onto Fremont St/Sinks Canyon Highway/WY 131 toward Sinks Canyon State Park. Drive all the way up the canyon until you see Forest Service signs for Bruce’s parking lot/trail head. We will allow a limited number of first-comers to park in the lot and then will direct people to park in the shoulder along the highway to ensure other Forest users have access to the trails.
There are 2 permanent pit toilets and 4 portable toilets at the start/finish line. Pit toilets are available along the 50K race at 3 locations and the 18K course at 1 location. Please see aid station descriptions for mile markers and locations. While on course and away from facilities please follow Leave No Trace principles.
Aid Station and Post Race Food
All aid station and post race food is provided for racers only. Please be courteous and take only what is needed. We have done our best to provide gluten free options. Post race food will be provided by our favorite local restaurant, The Middle Fork.
We know your 4-legged companions are an important part of your life. Your dog may be perfectly behaved and great around other people. However, please keep your dogs at home or arrange for a kennel. Lander has a couple of options if you plan on traveling with your dog. Please, do not leave your dog in your car or tied to your vehicle. There is little to no shade at the start/finish area.
The race logo was designed by local artist, Maggie Heller and t-shirts by Snow Deep Screen Printing and Design. Registrants after May 15th, may not be guaranteed a t-shirt. T-shirts are first reserved for those who registered before May 15th. Extra t-shirts will distributed as “first come, first serve” at the check in on Friday for any registrants after May 15th.
We are a cupless, plateless, and forkless race. Please be prepared with your fueling containers during and after the race. Aid stations will not provide any cups. All 50k racers must run with some sort of bottle or cup. Thank you for your efforts in saving our planet!
It being June in Wyoming, you can expect searing sun, dumping snow, driving rain, or some combination of the three! Hope for the best but come prepared for the worst! Even in perfect weather, this will be a challenging race! HERE is the most accurate weather forecast for Bruce’s Parking Area.
